Lego Duplo Counting and Patterning Cards

These Lego Duplo counting cards are a fun, tactile way to practice counting and number identification. I made them blank so that you can also make patterns of your own.

Evan loves his Lego Duplo blocks, so I am finding ways to add them to his learning experiences. I had a hard time finding blank cards that would allow me to make my own patterns, so I decided to make my own. These are true to size for the small, square Lego Duplo blocks.

How to use the Lego Duplo Counting and Patterning Cards

To begin, I just used them for counting and Evan enjoyed that.

Then I cut them apart and laminated them so I could color patterns on them with dry-erase markers. You could also have your child color patterns on them first and then match blocks up to them. You can even have your child trace the number with a dry erase marker for some writing practice.

Sometimes I just color them randomly and not in patterns and just have him match the blocks up while counting them. This would be a good color recognition activity for younger kids as well.

I really like that this makes counting and patterning fun. Kids already enjoy playing with their Legos and now you can add some additional learning opportunities to the mix. I always love when I can combine Evan’s favorite toys with a learning activity!
