To play this roll-and-cover math game, students roll the die and count the dots. They find the corresponding number on the butterfly and cover it with a manipulative. They roll again and continue until all the numbers are covered on the butterfly.
To play with two, three, or four dice, students roll the dice and count the dots. Then, they find the sum and cover the number with a small manipulative. Play continues until all the numbers are covered.
If you don’t want to use manipulatives, turn the mats into roll-and-color printable mats by having the students color the circle with a dry-erase marker.
Another option is to use play dough to cover the spots on the printable mat. This builds fine motor muscles too!
This spring, any option will add fun, hands-on learning to your math centers!
