Pumpkin CVC Matching Activity
In the fall, students are working hard on their beginning reading skills and there is no better way to practice decoding words than with CVC words! CVC word work is an important part of literacy centers, especially this time of year.
This digital pumpkin CVC matching activity is perfect for fall and working on word families with short vowels. The interactivity makes it a great hands-on CVC word building activity.
Whether students are learning in school, at home, in a small group, or individually, this fun pumpkin activity will help all learners master reading CVC words.
In this pumpkin-themed CVC word matching activity, students will look at the picture on the pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. They will sound out the 4 CVC words in the word bank on the side of the screen. Once they determine which word matches the picture, they will drag and drop the matching word into the box.
As the students read all of the pumpkin CVC words, they will get a lot of great practice with blending letter sounds together to read the word. They will use the process of elimination to determine which word makes sense and which words do not.

Mastering CVC Words
This fall literacy activity will be a hit during your lesson plans and literacy centers. It can be used with students in kindergarten up to 2nd grade.
Students love a challenge, and this activity is almost like a CVC puzzle! Your students will read and problem-solve to find the word that matches the picture.
Not only is it important for learners to master making CVC words, but they must also master decoding CVC words. That is exactly what they will work on in this activity.
They will use their knowledge of letters and sounds and word families to determine the correct short vowel word. They will be building reading fluency as a result!
In addition to literacy skills, students will also learn more about using technology and fine motor skills by dragging and dropping the words into the boxes.
