This Inside Out emotions game is a fun way to teach toddlers and preschoolers about emotions. It’s the perfect addition to an Inside Out movie night!
My kids love the movie Inside Out! We saw it in the movie theater on opening weekend. So when the DVD was released we just had to get to Walmart and pick up a copy!
We didn’t stop there though! We went over to the toy section and grabbed the TOMY Toys Inside Out figures too. My kids thought they were so neat and I knew they would be a great addition to the fun emotions board game I had created.
We left Walmart with all the supplies needed for an awesome Inside Out movie night! My kids were super excited!
Supplies Needed:
- Inside Out DVD
- Inside Out Core Figures from TOMY Toys
- Printable Inside Out Board Game
- Game die (dice)
- Tape
- Small objects to use as game pieces (we used foam blocks)
- Cut out the color dots and tape one to each side of a large foam game die.
- Place the Inside Out toy figures next to the game board.
How to Play the Inside Out Emotions Board Game
Each player will take turns rolling the game die and moving their game pieces on the board accordingly.
Once a player lands on a space on the game board, they should locate the coordinating toy figure and act out the emotion. For example, if a player lands on the yellow space on the board, they will grab the Joy figure and act joyful!
The orange space with the yellow circle represents a core memory. If a player lands on that space, they should share one of their favorite memories. It was so neat to hear these! My son really surprised us with his favorite memories.
This was a great way to introduce my toddler to emotions and what each one looks like. She had so much fun playing this game!
My preschooler also thoroughly enjoyed the game. He really got into the acting part of the game. His faces were priceless!
A really great thing about this game is that anyone can win it. It doesn’t matter what age you are. A two-year old can beat an adult! This makes it perfect for a fun-filled Inside Out movie night that the whole family can enjoy!
Make sure to pick up your copy of Inside Out at Walmart and download the printable emotions board game! What else will you add to your Inside Out movie night?
