- Crayons or pencils
- Clipboards
- Write and wipe pockets (optional)
Directions:
- Print the Easter basket cards and the egg sheets.
- Tape or pin the ten frame/twenty frame cards around the room for students to find.
- Give each child an Easter egg sheet, writing utensil, and clipboard.
- Let kids hunt for each ten-frame or twenty-frame card and color the matching numeral on their worksheet.
This activity is super simple for students to use. They will walk around the room looking for the ten-frame or twenty-frame cards. Once they find a card, they will subitize or count the eggs in the ten-frame. They will color that numeral on the Easter egg and move on to looking for the other cards.
This tool is excellent for an early childhood classroom because students can practice numbers 0-20. Counting practice is essential in the early years, so giving students fun, engaging ways to develop these skills is crucial. This one has the added benefit of getting them up and moving as well.
More Ideas for teaching!
This Easter egg find and color the number activity provides an excellent way for students to move around the room while getting practice with counting and number recognition. There are several ways to differentiate it for your students this spring.
To start, two different recording sheets are included. Students can use the recording sheet for numbers 0-10 or a more challenging sheet that consists of all numbers 0-20. This alone gives you two different ways to differentiate this activity.
Students who don’t enjoy coloring can cross off the numbers as they find them.
You can also slide the sheets into page protectors and give students dry-erase markers to use on them.
This number sense activity will be a great addition to your math resources. Your students will be so excited to practice numbers this spring!
