Use this as a sight words activity or spelling words activity in kindergarten or first grade. A fun way to do word work and learn sight words!

Using this Fun Name Writing Activity

Supplies Needed:

Setting Up the Activity:

  1. Print out the pages you need.
  2. Slip into write and wipe pockets or use the black and white version as a worksheet.
  3. Place the transparent spinner over the spinner on the mat.

That’s it! No cutting or laminating involved!

Using the Spin and Write Name Activity

There are 2 options for playing.

  1. Use as a worksheet and students use pencil, crayon, and marker to write their name or words.
  2. Slip into write and wipe pockets and students use 3 different colored dry-erase markers to write their name or words.

Students will spin the spinner and land on one of the options above.

They will use the writing utensil they landed on to write their name in a box on the page.

This continues until all of the boxes are filled.

Use for Sight Words or Spelling Words Too!

If your students have moved beyond learning to write their name, you can also use this for word work too.

Students will simply use their sight word or spelling words list to complete the activity.

Students will look at word #1 on the list. Then they will spin the spinner and write that word using the writing utensil they landed on. This continues until they have moved through every word on the list, up to 10 words total.

As you can see, it is easy to differentiate the activity for your students and also extend its life beyond simply learning to write names.
