- Print the beginning blends worksheets.
- Gather the supplies you would like your students to use on the worksheets.
- They are now ready to use!
A Fun Way to Practice Reading Words With Consonant Blends
If you would like them to do so, students can color the pictures on the worksheet. If not, they can begin by cutting out all of the images. Once the pictures are colored and cut out, students will sort them to the correct words on the page.
For example, students will add a picture of the drum to the box above the word drum. Then, they will add the image of the flag to the box above the word flag. This continues until all of the boxes have a picture in them.
Each beginning blends worksheet has six words with different blends and sounds. There are three printable pages included in the file.
Differentiated Reading Practice
This is a great way to reinforce skills that students have already learned. Add them to centers, use them during small groups, or send them home for extra practice.
Students just beginning to blend sounds and read more complex words could do this activity in small groups with help. Students who can read words independently can use these reading pages to practice this skill independently or with a partner during literacy centers.
