Using the Blend Words Missing Sound Work Sheets
Students will apply their knowledge of letters and sounds to segment the word pictured into individual phonemes and then fill in the missing sound by matching that sound to the letters that make it.
The first sheet features a variety of words with beginning blends. This is a great place to start with students who are just learning words with blends.
The second sheet features a variety of words with ending blends. If your students are ready to advance beyond beginning blends, this is great choice.
Students will look at the pictures and they will say the name of the word pictured. Then, they will segment each sound in the word and place the letters that correspond to the missing blend in the empty boxes.
Finally, they may blend the sounds together to read the word they built and check to see if it matches the word pictured.
