Christmas Tree Find and Color the Number Sheets
This freebie teaches number sense to preschool and kindergarten students using ten frames and numerals. Add them to your math centers for fun number learning this winter.
These worksheets will benefit students as they learn numbers from 0 to 20. There are also pages for just numbers 0 to 10 and just numbers 11 to 20 for differentiation.
Very Simple Prep for Teachers!
This number sense activity is so easy to prep! Just print it out and cut the cards apart. Then, laminate them so for repeated use. Store them in Ziploc baggies or mesh zippered pouches.
The recording sheets need no set-up. Once you have the number cards prepped, you can just print and play. If your kids don’t want to color, you can use some holiday-themed manipulatives to cover the spaces or another manipulative of your choice.

Using this Christmas Number Hunt Activity
This activity is super simple for students to use. They will walk around the room looking for the ten-frame or twenty-frame cards. Once they find a card, they will subitize or count the ornaments in the ten-frame. Then they will color the matching ornament with the numeral on it and move on to looking for the other ten-frame cards.
This tool is excellent for an early childhood classroom because students can practice numbers 0-20. Counting practice is essential in the early years, so giving students fun, engaging ways to develop these skills is crucial. This one also gets them up and moving while learning these important skills.
Extending the Activity!
There are several ways to differentiate this resource for your students.
It provides an excellent way for students to move around the room while getting practice with counting and number recognition, but you can also use these sitting down as well. Just place the cards in a pile and have students draw cards from the pile and then find and color the number on their sheet.
Three different recording sheets are included to start. Students can use the recording sheet for numbers 0-10, the recording sheet for 11-20, or a more challenging sheet that consists of all numbers 0-20. This alone gives you three different ways to differentiate this activity.
Students who don’t enjoy coloring can cross off the numbers as they find them or place manipulatives on their sheets.
You can also slide the sheets into page protectors and give students dry-erase markers to use on them.
This number sense activity will be a great addition to your math plans this December. Your students will be so excited to practice numbers this winter!
