Playing the Race and Trace Board Games

To play the “Race and Trace” board game, students will choose any spot on the game board to begin and place their game piece there. They’ll roll the dice and move that many spaces on the game board. They’ll read the word, number, letter, math equation, etc. that they land on. Then, students will trace the skill they landed on in the center of the game board. Play continues until all skills have been traced.

To play the “Race to the Top” version of the one player board game, students will begin on any spot on the game board, placing their game piece there. They’ll roll the dice and move that many spaces. Again, they’ll read the skill on that space and write it at the bottom of the grid in the center of the mat. Students will continue rolling the dice and moving around the game board, each time, either writing the skill or tracing it in the corresponding column. The first skill to the top of it’s column is the winner!
