Setting Up the Snowman Word Building Activity in Google Slides

The download file includes a detailed guide with instructions and pictures on how to use this activity with you students, but it is quite simple to do.
If you are an instructor or teacher, you will want to copy the Google Slides assignment to your Google Drive and save it as a master copy.
Make sure that you click the dropdown next to the attachment. Pick the “Make a copy for each student” option.

You will click the Seesaw specific link in the download file. When you arrive at the activity, you will need to click the “Save Activity” button. Then you will assign the activity to your students.
Mastering Word Building
When young students begin working with words, it is essential that they have a variety of opportunities to manipulate the letters and sounds in words. Doing so in an interactive and hands-on way is the key to keeping the engagement high and the learning fun!

To use this activity, students will read the word in the “Read It” box. Then they will build it above the snowman by dragging and dropping the correct snowflake letter tiles. Lastly, they will type the word in the “Type It” box. The digital snowflake letter tiles are in alphabetical order, allowing students to use their letter recognition and ABC order knowledge to find the correct letters. On each slide, they get to work with the word in 3 different ways.
Differentiating the Snowman Activity
There are so many different ways to use this activity with your students. You can change up the words on the list and even assign different lists of words to different students. This allows you to meet each student or small group of students at their level.
