2D Shapes Activity
If you are looking for a fun, hands-on way for students preschool or kindergarten to learn shapes, you are going to love this shapes activity!
This activity works a lot like traditional “clip cards.” They are set up similarly and students use a “virtual” clothespin to mark their answers on the card.
This makes it easy for your students to learn 2D shapes while using Google Slides or Seesaw!

Setting Up the Shape “Clip” Cards in Google Slides
Students can use Google Slides™ to do this activity.
The download includes a detailed guide with instructions and pictures on how to use the file with you students, but it is quite simple to do.
If you are a instructor or teacher, you will want to copy the Google slides assignment to your Google Drive and save it as a master copy.
After that, you will need to create an assignment for each student and attach Google Slides doc you want them to work on.
If you are using the same mats with your whole class, make sure that you click the dropdown next to the attachment. Pick the “Make a copy for each student” option.
Setting Up this Shape Math Activity in Seesaw
Students can also use this activity in Seesaw.
You will need to click the “Save Activity” button when you arrive at the activity.
To edit click the “… button” and select “Copy and Edit Activity” when you are on the assignment screen. You will need Seesaw Plus or Seesaw for Schools to edit.
On the next screen click on the “Template Attached” image and edit. After making changes you will then assign to your students.
Using the 2D Shapes Activity
Students will look at the picture of the real life item on the “clip card” and they will decide what shape it is.
Then they will drag a clothespin of their choice over to the correct shape on the right side of the card.
For example, students will see the donut on the card and determine that it is a circle. Then they will drag the clothespin over to the circle on the right side of the card.
This continues through all of the slides in the activity.
I hope your students enjoy it!
