Blend Word Search and Trace Worksheets
These search, find, and trace worksheets will give the kids a fun way to learn to read and spell words with blends. They are perfect for students who could use extra practice with these skills.
This free printable pack comes with four worksheets (2 in color and 2 in black and white). I like to provide both versions to give everyone the best option for their classroom.
Each worksheet has 12 words printed in a tracing font. The first page has words with beginning blends and the second page has words with ending blends.
This literacy activity is jam-packed with learning with multiple skills covered on each sheet.
Add the worksheets to your literacy centers or use them as an independent activity or early finisher task in kindergarten or first grade.
Print and Play Science of Reading Activity
These blend sheets are super simple to prep! Just print and play. If using the black-and-white version, you can print and use it as is. Or you can slip it into write-and-wipe pockets, and students can color with dry-erase markers and trace with them, too.
If you use the color version of these sheets, you can print them, slip them into write-and-wipe pockets, and use them again and again.
Then, students can use dry-erase markers to circle the pictures and trace the words. If you want to change them up, they can also use manipulatives or mini erasers to mark the pictures.
Setting Up the Blend Word Search and Trace Activity

Supplies Needed:

- Dry-erase markers or a pencil
- Mini erasers or manipulatives (optional)
Directions:
- Print the worksheets.
- Slip into a write and wipe pocket or laminate, if desired.
How to Use the Worksheets
These free printable search and trace worksheets are fun; I think your students will love them!
Students will look at a word at the bottom of the sheet and blend the sounds to read the word. After they have read the word, they will search for a matching picture. Once they find it, they will trace the corresponding word at the bottom of the page. They will repeat this until they find all 12 words and their pictures.
They can circle the picture and trace the word using the color version. If they use black and white, they will color the picture once they find it and trace the word.
Ideas for the Classroom
