CVC Word Mats
Use this digital version of the CVC matching mats when paper and pencil resources aren’t compatible with your classroom’s learning. This digital download is compatible with Seesaw and Google Slides™. Your students can practice CVC words on a tablet, iPad, or computer!
These word games are perfect for kindergarten and first-grade students that are learning to read. Consonant vowel consonant words are so important in the early literacy development of students. They are easy to sound out and use short vowel sounds to create words. They can also work on CVC word families to improve reading skills.

Using & Implementing the Digital CVC Words Matching Mats
This resource is super easy to use for your students. Once it is open, they will see 2 mats that have 9 pictures each. Down one side, there are the CVC words for the student to drag and drop onto the correct picture. The students will need to make each letter sound, blend the sounds together, and then match it to the picture. So easy but full of great benefits for your students!
Use these word work cards for early finishers in the classroom to provide them with extra reading practice while staying occupied and not bothering the working students. These CVC picture cards would be great for a literacy center activity too! For your struggling students, some of the word cards could be removed or already placed on the correct picture; that way they don’t feel so overwhelmed with the number of words they have to read.
This activity can be used in a variety of ways in school and at home. Here are a few options for incorporating this digital CVC word matching activity into your literacy plans:
