Mixed CVCe Word Building Activity for Google Slides and Seesaw
Use this mixed CVCe word building activity in Google Slides or Seesaw for fun literacy learning and phonics instruction while students learn online.
Mixed CVCe Word Building
While using this CVCe word building activity, students will learn that long vowels say their name and then get practice spelling and reading words with long vowels.
Leave the flashcards behind, and make learning CVCe words a hands-on, interactive experience.
In this particular version of the activity, students will work on long “A,” long “O,” long “I,” and long “U” words. I have taken slides from each individual long vowel activity and added them here together and mixed them up. So now you can review all the long vowel sounds in one activity!
This digital activity is hands-on because students will drag virtual magnetic letters over to the boxes and build the CVCe words illustrated on the slide.
Beyond learning CVCe words, students will also get extra practice with letter sound identification while developing eye-hand coordination and computer skills at the same time.
Learning about the Silent E
Students will learn that when an “e” is placed at the end of a word, it makes the first vowel say its name.
Sometimes this is referred to as a “silent e,” “magic e” or “sneaky e.”
Students will get lots of practice with adding an “e” to the end of words and making long vowel sounds while using this activity.
