Free Printable Spring Fine Motor Mats with Pom Poms
These spring fine motor mats use pom poms to give your kids tons of fine motor practice! They would be perfect for your spring preschool centers or kindergarten fine motor stations.
Spring Fine Motor Mats
If your kids could use some extra fine motor practice, these spring fine motor mats will be perfect for you. They require no-prep, so all you need to do is print and slip into write and wipe pockets.
Your kids will love making fun pictures with pom poms this spring. And while they are doing so, they will be strengthening those important fine motor muscles.
I also added in some counting practice, so your kids will be developing fine motor skills while they practice counting too. Win-win!
Setting Up the Fine Motor Pom Pom Mats
Supplies Needed:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Spring Fine Motor Mats – button to download at the bottom of this post
- 1″ Pom Poms in a variety of colors
- Fine motor tools such as these gator grabbers, or these squeezy tweezers or just use a small chip clip like we did.
- Write and wipe pockets
You will probably need two of the packs of pom poms listed above. I have one set and was short on a few colors.
Tip: I ended up getting a bunch of packs at Michael’s craft store since we can never have enough pom poms. Here’s my tip, wait until they offer a 40% off your buy online, pick up in store order and then buy two packs of bold 1″ pom poms, 2 packs of bright 1″ pom poms, 1 pack of white 1″ pom poms and a pack of black 1″ pom poms. I got them all for just under $12!
Using the Spring Fine Motor Mats
Students will use a fine motor tool or their finger tips to place the pom poms on the mat – making sure to match the colors to the correct space on the mat.
This will continue until all of the spots on the mat have been covered with a matching pom pom.
Then students will count how many pom poms there are of each color on the mat and write them in the spaces at the bottom.
That’s it. Have fun developing fine motor skills this spring!
