Looking for a fun way for students to practice non-standard measurement while learning online? This activity is perfect for that!

Students will interact with virtual cubes and use them to measure a variety of objects.

This gives them lots of fun practice with measuring objects in a variety of sizes.

I find that kids love learning measurement because it is quite easy to understand and have success with. Plus, it’s more hands-on and engaging.

It’s also a great change of pace from all of the addition, subtraction, and place value students learn all year long.

Students can use Google Slides™ to do this activity.

The download includes a detailed guide with instructions and pictures on how to use the file with you students, but it is quite simple to do.

If you are a instructor or teacher, you will want to copy the Google slides assignment to your Google Drive and save it as a master copy.

Then make sure that you click the dropdown next to the attachment and pick the “Make a copy for each student” option.

Students will drag the cubes over and line them up side by side until they span the length of the object they are measuring.

Then they will count the cubes to see about how many cubes long the object is.

Finally, they will drag over the number tile that tells how many cubes long the object is.

This continues through all of the slides you have assigned.
